Solving Traceability Challenges, Co-creating Circular Value – Vary Tech Invited to CHINA PLAS x CPRJ Forum on Plastic Recycling & Circular Economy

Recently, the 7th CHINA PLAS x CPRJ Plastic Recycling and Circular Economy Forum & Exhibition took place in Shanghai. Hunan Vary Tech Co., Ltd. was invited to attend. As the world's largest plastic producer, consumer, and user, China supports high-quality economic growth but also faces major challenges: massive waste plastic generation, an underdeveloped recycling system, and low high-value utilization. With growing resource and environmental pressures, developing a circular economy for plastics has become a key strategy to meet dual-carbon goals and drive green industrial transformation.



Industry data shows that physically recycled plastic cuts carbon emissions by about 1.6 tons per ton compared to virgin plastic. Thanks to ESG-linked brand premiums and real carbon reduction benefits, the recycled plastics industry is seeing rapid growth – yet new pain points on the supply side are emerging.



High heterogeneity of upstream supply leads to frequent fluctuations in raw material performance, while the lagging adjustment of downstream processing techniques makes it difficult to guarantee stable quality. Faced with mandatory requirements on Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastic content under EU regulations such as PPWR and ELV, as well as the full rollout of Digital Product Passport (DPP), relying merely on cost competition can no longer align with the value orientation of ESG and carbon neutrality. Establishing a credible traceability system and providing tamper-proof full-chain data has become an essential requirement for enterprises to avoid greenwashing risks and meet international market access thresholds.

As a co-initiator and builder of the national recycled materials traceability system, Vary Tech has deeply integrated digital traceability into the industrial chain. Vary Sunny – a Vary Resource Recycling Group affiliate and a nationally certified leader in comprehensive waste plastic utilization (recognized by MIIT) – has fully completed its digital, intelligent, and credible traceability system.

Through real-time monitoring and dynamic fine-tuning of key processes including crushing, washing and granulation, the system achieves self-optimization of production techniques, successfully transforming the traditional black-box process into high-quality deterministic output, with color difference ΔE less than 0.3 and purity reaching 99%. Only by cutting through cost barriers in intermediate steps can the industry deliver stable, high-quality recycled materials that are affordable, lowcarbon, traceable, and consistent from batch to batch.

During the interactive session, responding to questions from automobile OEMs over the authenticity of high-quality PCR materials being both high-performance and cost-effective, Song Zhen stated that the combination of digital intelligent traceability and advanced downstream modification technology enables PCR materials to fully outperform virgin plastics. At present, high-quality PCR materials with reliable traceability and stable large-scale supply remain a scarce global resource, and their reasonable premium truly reflects the inherent value of green materials.

Beyond its in-depth layout in physical recycling, Vary Tech adopts an innovative chemical recycling approach to realize the ultimate utilization of mixed waste plastics. With its core pyrolysis technology, waste plastics are efficiently converted into pyrolysis oil, which can be directly sold as high value-added products, further refined into high-quality PPO or recycled naphtha, and even deeply processed into basic chemicals such as olefins.
