Chinese Technology Powers India’s Green Future: Vary Tech’s Waste Refrigerator Recycling & Disassembly Line Shipped to India’s GMP

Published on:2025-11-07

  • Recently, the custom-built waste refrigerator recycling and disassembly line, developed by Hunan Vary Tech Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Vary Tech") for Greenscape Eco Management Pvt. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "GMP"), was officially shipped from Changsha Port. This "green camel train" composed of 13 containers is expected to arrive in New Delhi by the end of November. It not only marks the smooth delivery of the project but also symbolizes a new chapter of cooperation between China and Indian enterprises in the green recycling of e-waste.

China-India Corporate Cooperation: "Chinese Technology" Drives "India’s Green Action"

Founded in 2007, GMP is a benchmark enterprise in India’s e-waste management and IT asset treatment sector. Adhering to the concept of "We Do as We Care", GMP provides compliant, environmentally friendly, and economically valuable solutions for industries such as telecommunications, finance, and insurance through full-link systematic environmental services including data security management, dismantling-reuse, and resale. According to data, GMP currently has an annual e-waste processing capacity of approximately 40,000 tons, with plans to expand it to 180,000 tons. Its business covers IT, home appliances, communication equipment, and other fields, and it has established long-term cooperative relationships with well-known international brands such as LG, Panasonic, Whirlpool, and Tata Steel.

GMP chose Vary Tech as its partner mainly based on two factors. First, Vary Tech is a leading Chinese provider of e-waste recycling and processing system services, having served domestic and foreign well-known enterprises such as Haier and TCL. GMP aims to leverage Vary Tech’s mature experience and technical background in the Chinese market to secure the recycling and disassembly business of these brands in the Indian market, forming a full-link green recycling cooperation model from China to India. Second, Vary Tech has 20 years of technical accumulation in the e-waste processing field. Its pioneering "dual-shaft shredding + vertical crushing" combined process has been certified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as reaching the international leading level. After 7 generations of upgrades, the single-line capacity has increased from 40 units per hour to 200 units per hour, which can significantly help improve quality and expand capacity.

The delivered production line has a designed capacity of 100-120 units per hour and an annual processing capacity of 260,000 to 310,000 units. It is a key strategic measure for GMP to enhance its home appliance dismantling capacity and expand its business scope, and will effectively address India’s growing demand for home appliance waste processing.

Market Opportunities: Industrial Upgrade Driven by Both Policy and Market

Driven by both policy and market, India’s e-waste recycling and disassembly industry is entering a critical window for large-scale and standardized development.

Since the implementation of the E-Waste Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Regulations in 2019, producers’ recycling responsibilities have been effectively implemented in India. With the in-depth advancement of the Battery Waste Management Rules in 2022, and continuous financial subsidies and tax incentives from state governments, a policy system combining incentives and constraints has become increasingly improved. Approximately 500-700 million US dollars of government funds are expected to be used annually to support formal recycling enterprises, promoting the market’s comprehensive transformation from "scattered" disorderly competition to "platform-based and large-scale" development.

Currently, the scale of India’s e-waste management market has reached 1.56 billion US dollars, and it is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10%, reaching 3.35 billion US dollars by 2031. Among them, waste home appliances (refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, TVs, etc.) are the main source of e-waste, accounting for 30%-40%, making them the segment with the most urgent processing demand.

However, informal small workshops still account for 30%-40% of India’s e-waste recycling volume, with backward technology and severe pollution. India’s e-waste generation is expected to reach 7 million tons in 2025, and advanced automated and large-scale disassembly lines have become the core to break this deadlock. Suppliers that can provide overall solutions with high efficiency, high environmental standards, and high resource recovery rates are likely to become the most popular partners in India’s industrial upgrade.

Global Practice: From "Made in China" to "Shared Globally"

With mature technology, equipment, and system services, Vary Tech has gained wide recognition in the global market. Up to now, the company has provided more than 100 sets of waste home appliance recycling and disassembly lines to global customers, with a cumulative dismantling volume of 130 million units. Its business covers Spain, Turkey, Malaysia, India, Mauritius, Rwanda, Brazil, and other countries and regions. This cooperation with GMP is another important practice of Vary Tech in the Indian market.

The successful shipment of this project has realized the complementary advantages and win-win cooperation between China and India’s environmental protection industries. After the project is put into operation, it will significantly improve the local resource recovery rate, effectively reduce environmental pollution, and help increase the market share of formal dismantling enterprises in India. Vary Tech is willing to work with global partners to drive resource recycling through technological innovation and jointly depict a green future for sustainable development.
